Phew! After some marathon sewing, I managed to finish this oversized zippered quilted patchwork tote bag.
This magnum opus of a bag – the biggest I have made so far - measures 14 inches in height, 20 inches across and has a 5.5 inch base.
It has two open quilted pockets on one side (the patchwork makes it look like it’s not there; a kind of trompe l’oeil, that is illusion).

And a zippered pocket on side 2.
It has six open pockets on the inside.
I always thought that it can’t be that difficult to sew a huge bag. After all, you just proportionally increase the measurements everywhere. But that is so not true! At every step, I had to rack my brains to figure out the dimensions and it drove me crazy. It also pushed me to challenge myself (not to mention my poor sewing machine). Nevertheless, I hung in there, and saw it through to the end. I must say that I am rather pleased with myself and with the way that this bag has turned out.
On another note, the Lavande blog will be on a hiatus till the end of April as I am in the process of relocating. See you in May.
