Thanks to the relocation process, all my sewing stuff (including my sewing machine) had been shipped and was in transit for more than a month. I had of course anticipated this, and had come prepared with some hand sewing projects (more about this later).
When I don’t have a sewing machine close at hand, I tend to suffer from separation anxiety. And much as I love to embroider and sew by hand, I miss sewing on the machine.
My things were delivered more than two weeks ago and it's been a busy fortnight – I’ve worked continuously to complete a couple of orders. Here are the results of all the frenzied sewing:

Three pretty quilted zippered bags with many pockets on the inside and outside:
This bag has two pockets on the outside, one on each side, placed on a different patch of fabric. I've played with the mustard coloured fabric and the green. Spot the differences between the two sides! The pockets are in white floral printed pintucks fabric. As you can see, the handles are made with the same three fabrics creating the patchwork effect from all angles.
And now for the inside, one zippered pocket and two open.
For this next bag, I did patchwork using fabrics in blue and purple. It’s a fairly big bag-it measures 17 inches across and is 11 inches high. It has a 3 inch base.
There are two open pockets on the outside with strips of fabric placed horizontally to contrast with the vertical patchwork strips on the other side.
Here’s a bright and cheerful bag with a pretty ribbon embellishment on the accent piece and the pocket.
View of the inside with one zippered pocket and two open pockets.
And now a roomy tote bag with a button and loop closure. It has an embroidered border embellishment and a multicoloured handle.
And three pockets on the inside.
I've had a whale of a time making these bags. It's been all the more fun since I was back at bag making after a rather long break.
I have many other projects in the pipeline and will present them all soon, as and when they are completed. Keep watching this space.....
